Michelangelo’s preparatory artworks on display at Georgian National Museum

Another pleasant surprise for art lovers – Georgian National Museum and the Embassy of Italy to Georgia present the exhibition of renowned Italian sculptor, painter, architect and poet of the High Renaissance Michelangelo Buonarroti’s preparatory drawings. The exhibition is called Michelangelo and the Sistine Chapel.


Michelangelo – The Creation of Adam. c. 1508–1512

From February 2, GNM Dimitri Shevardnadze National Gallery will showcase 6 graphic works from Casa Buonarroti Museum collections (Florence).The art lovers can attend the exhibition and see some of the world masterpieces till April 3.

Address: Dimitri Shevardnadze National Gallery, 11 Shota Rustaveli Ave. Tbilisi, Georgia. The museum’s working hours are: 10: 00-20:00.

Entrance Fees:

Adults – 7 GEL
Students – 1 GEL
School Children – 0,5 GEL
Pensioners – 0,5 GEL

Georgian National Museum perpetuates an enduring museum tradition in Georgia. Established in 2004, it represents the biggest cultural complex in the country consisting of museums, National Gallery, museum-reserves, famous Georgian artists’ house-museums, scientific and research institutions and libraries.

As a reminder, Georgian National Museum has already hosted two unique exhibitions of renowned Italian artists Sandro Botticelli and Caravaggio in October 2017. The coordinator of the exhibition was Italian Embassy in Georgia.

  2. I’m not sure exactly why but this website is loading extremely slow for me. Is anyone else having this issue or is it a issue on my end? I’ll check back later on and see if the problem still exists.
